Lakeside Retreat

We stayed at this house for a week in July. We absolutely loved being right on the lake. We really appreciated having access to the dock to anchor our boat vs having to launch it every day. We had endless amounts of fun on the water. We were two families (total of 9 people) and there was lots of space for us all in the house as well as some yard space for lawn games. There were lots of towels for the lake and showers. The star gazing was incredible at night and we admired them every night on the patio. There are a lot of small improvements that could be made to this property that I think could make a big difference. The cleaners could also do a better job. There was still some food in the kitchen sink plug, the floors not thoroughly vacuumed. There was a garbage outside on the lower patio that was full to the brim from the people who stayed before us I'm assuming. One of the main bedrooms had vertical blinds, but some of the blinds have broken off and were found in the closet. This caused alot of bright morning sunlight to come into our room and could be easily solved by replacing these vertical blinds with some black out curtains from Costco. The main bedroom was also missing the face plate on the light switch. The rattan patio furniture was all falling apart. I did pass this on to the property manager who told me he had already ordered new chairs, so this should no longer be an issue. There were some random things like computer monitors in closets, dog food in the front coat closet along with a sleeping mask that could be eliminated. The kitchen could use some dish cloths and towels - there were none. We ended up buying a cheap coffee maker because the coffee machine was incredibly slow for some reason. It probably needs to be replaced. There were a few drawers in the kitchen with random odds and ends that could be cleared out. The biggest issue we encountered was an insane amount of spiders in the basement. Spiders in webs in the corner of bedrooms running along the carpet, one on the bedspread. There were many spiders both dead and alive. I killed MANY significantly sized spiders. I understand that this is an older home and basements can be prone to spiders, but I think it needs a seasonal spray for spiders both inside and outside the perimeter, traps in the house, weather stripping in the basement door, and really thorough vacuums between stays. I did pass this onto the property manager during our stay who said he would get an exterminator on the books and told us where the vacuum was. We were very close to moving our kids upstairs but they agreed to sleep downstairs once we vacuumed. I still killed spiders after we vacuumed. If it were me, I most definitely would not have slept down there due to all the spiders. We would have sprayed it ourselves during our stay but the windows did not have screens so we would have had no way to air out the chemicals. We did set out some sticky traps later in the week. I will say that we would stay here again for the size and location alone. The property manager was very responsive to any inquiry I made. Overall we had a great week. I'm giving this feedback because I feel like this property has so much more potential and if it were my property, I would want to know these things, to improve my rental success.

Nice place!!!Might want to address the wasp nests in the carport eaves, two rather large ones. But they didn’t bother us because we’re used to it. Other guests maybe not so much
